The fourth outing for JK Rowling's Strike TV adaptation is set to finally get underway very soon, and now it has a director on board too.

Lethal White will continue the investigations of private detective Cormoran Strike (Tom Burke) and Robin Ellacott (Holliday Grainger).

Now Deadline reports that filming will begin later this year, with Line of Duty director Susan Tully on board to helm the series.

Tully has a background in acting, having played the earlier iteration of Michelle Fowler on EastEnders for 10 years, as well as Suzanne Ross on Grange Hill.

Lethal White is based on the latest novel in Rowling's Strike series, which sees the titular detective approached by a troubled young man called Billy.

He asks Strike to help investigate a crime he thinks he witnessed as a child, the detective left deeply unsettled by his claims and subsequently pushed on a twisting trail through the backstreets of London and the countryside.

The last Strike series was released in April 2018, and Rowling revealed that the BBC wanted to adapt the novels before her true identity from pseudonym Robert Galbraith was revealed.

"The BBC actually approached Robert without knowing it was me, which put me in a real quandary," she explained.

"And I had this bizarre meeting with my agent and my editor... I said to them, 'Well what do we do? This is an amazing thing that they've contacted us to try and adapt it for TV, but I obviously can't take this meeting.'"
