Victoria is going to be back on screens this weekend. No, you haven't missed any announcements from ITV!

UK fans of the royal drama have been waiting for more than a year for the third season to arrive on screens, but unfortunately it's looking they'll have to keep on waiting.

For the first time in the show's history, Victoria will be premiering in the US this Sunday (January 13) on public broadcaster PBS, before it even has an air date in the UK.

The announcement was made on Victoria's official social media feed earlier this week:

Needless to say, fans back here in the UK were less than pleased by the announcement — since ITV usually screens each season around five months before Victoria arrives in the US in January.

As far as when Victoria will actually be airing on ITV, a spokesperson for the channel told the Radio Times that there's still no firm air date to announce.

Late last year, ITV released a sneak peek at the upcoming episodes that promised some "turbulent times" ahead for the Queen (Jenna Coleman) and Prince Albert (Tom Hughes).

Coleman has also recently admitted that she will soon have to leave the series so it can flash further forward in Queen Victoria's lifetime, similar to The Crown.
