This week temperatures have peaked, reaching 33.3 degrees Celsius in parts of the UK. The Met Office has warned that the summer heatwave engulfing Britain is set to continue and that temperatures could reach 35 degrees by the end of the week.

However, some places in the UK have technically already witnessed temperatures higher than the mid-30s. One such place is London Underground's Central Line, which hit 40 degrees on Monday, according to The Telegraph.

And it's also worth noting that is a temperature in which it is illegal to transport cattle in the UK, with EU regulations stating that cattle should not be transported at temperatures higher than 30C.

Naturally, people who have to travel to work in these sauna-like conditions are voicing their concern to Transport for London. However, on Tuesday (July 24), the response from a TfL employee named Sol wasn't as reassuring as perhaps it was intended.

Apparently, tube travellers using the central line, which runs from Ealing to Essex, must wait 11 years before they can expect air con.
