Inzoi has been described as "not very fun" and a disappointment in first impressions from critics.

Krafton's life-simulation game, which has drawn comparisons to The Sims, is launching in early access this month, but many who have played the game early have been underwhelmed, despite feeling there is some potential.

Several critics have said that Inzoi lacks a distinct personality and isn't as fun as EA's popular franchise, with Eurogamer, GameSpot, and GamesRadar all saying the game feels "soulless" at the moment.

Another recurring criticism is the game's controversial use of generative AI, with Polygon saying: "Putting aside the many, many questions I have about the ethics of these processes, the technology just doesn’t work well at this point."

PC Gamer added: "For how much Krafton has harped on about all these AI gadgets and gizmos, I didn't find they enriched my experience at all."

Some reviews were more positive about the game, with Digital Trends saying that Inzoi has "perfect pacing for life-sim fans who want slower and more methodical gameplay".

Digital Spy

"The problem with Inzoi is that it lacks any real charm or character, and that in turn makes the sandbox experience painfully bland. The Zois' more 'realistic' look compared to Sims stylistically doesn't quite work, and they're a lot more dull to play and tell stories with."

Eurogamer

"The trouble is, it's all so soulless – its flashiness failing to mask a lack of personality. Where The Sims feels tuned for maximum chaos and carnage (sometimes exhaustingly so), InZoi barely mustered a single memorable event in the six hours I played."

PC Gamer

"Ultimately, Inzoi's biggest issue right now is that it's simply not very fun... In an attempt to offer something different to The Sims, Inzoi has failed to establish any sort of identity of its own. I'm not even sure Krafton knows what direction it wants to take right now, but it needs to figure that out quickly, otherwise I fear it'll be another casualty of the genre."

Polygon

"InZoi lacks any of the personality that makes the Sims franchise iconic. There is story and flavor in the sandboxes of The Sims, a semblance of a community wherein your own stories are to be built. I haven’t found that in my first few hours of InZoi. I’ve found very little of anything, in fact."

IGN

"The lifelike visuals and smattering of highly detailed interactions feel at odds with its rougher, less immersive edges, giving the world a sometimes strange and sterile atmosphere. Even so, there’s a surprising amount of depth hidden amongst these blind spots, and I’m keen to see if inZOI can deliver on its monumental promises."

GameSpot

"Between unsatisfying careers, shallow relationships and socialization mechanics, and my own Zoi being both boring while also harboring urges for entirely random things, I had very little fun actually living out my Zois' lives."

GamesRadar

"For all of its charms as a robust and creative design tool that allows you to build eerily realistic people and place them in idyllic homes, what Zois deem as 'living' is demonstrably lacking in life. inZOI in its current state feels like a soulless imitation of the worst parts of The Sims, and no amount of custom patterned sweaters will fix that."

Digital Trends

"After spending hours playing out the life of my Zois, I can tell that Inzoi has the perfect pacing for life-sim fans who want slower and more methodical gameplay. Time goes by a lot slower, but in return, you get intricate customization and realistic graphics."

VGC

"InZOI is a wonderfully detailed challenger to The Sims with extensive customisation options and some surprisingly original ideas, such as being able to create objects from photos. With a bit more personality and structure it could be a serious contender for the top spot, but at this Early Access stage it's instead a worthwhile alternative to EA's series."
