Terese is knocked for six when Toadie asks if Nell can come and live with her for a while. Toadie goes on to reveal that Big Kev has been diagnosed with cancer. Toadie doesn't want Nell to watch someone close to her die, after all the historic trauma she has held onto from Sonya's passing.
Terese is torn between sympathy for Toadie and concern over the secret she's keeping about her recent relapse. In the moment, she can't bring herself to tell Toadie about her drinking, though he finds out later from Jane.
Concerned for Terese, Toadie withdraws his request for her to look after Nell. Toadie is trying to be respectful of Terese but she takes it the wrong way, accusing him of messing with her once again.

Toadie asks Susan if she and Karl would be willing to look after Nell. Susan assures Toadie that Nell will always have a place in her home, but implores him to speak to Nell first. By now, Nell has realised something major is going down. Toadie braces himself to break the difficult news.
Meanwhile, Remi, JJ and Dex spend time with Cara in hospital. The family are all rocked by her heartbreaking health development, but Cara remains strangely flippant about it. When Krista offers sympathy, Cara quickly turns the conversation to JJ and Nell's surprise visit.
Later, Remi challenges Cara. Surely she must have some emotional reaction to the news that she can no longer have children? Again, Cara plays it down, insisting she's fine and pivoting to talk of their New York trip. But while Remi doesn't push the issue, she remains deeply worried about her wife.
Elsewhere, glamorous newcomer Yaz Shields arrives in Erinsborough and meets with Mayor Helen Brown. Yaz presents herself as a creative entrepreneur who has made her fortune in staging bespoke lighting events in the US. Now she wants to stage 'Erinsborough Lights Up'.
With encouragement from Aaron, Helen tasks Yaz with enlisting local sponsors and community support although Yaz mysteriously already has the hotel, Eirini Rising and the school in her sights.
Meetings with Krista, Susan and Jane go well, which Yaz reports back to Helen, promising a written proposal in time for the council meeting. Later, in an unguarded moment, Yaz reveals to Aaron that she and her brother started the company together. She gives the impression he's back in the US although he's no longer involved in the business.
Aaron takes this at face value but when Yaz retires to her hotel room, she tunes into Liv's recent podcast interview with Holly and pulls up a photo on her phone. It's of her and Heath Royce. It seems Heath is her brother. Why is Yaz really in town?
