Mackenzie is frantic about the arrival of the mysterious man in her restaurant. Without explanation, she recruits Dean to kick him out. Dean is astounded to learn that Gabe is the man Mac was going to marry once. He wonders why Gabe is here now, but Mackenzie doesn't intend to find out.
Gabe refuses to leave town without speaking to Mackenzie. Full of regret, Gabe admits that not marrying Mackenzie is the biggest mistake of his life. Mac's father Rick offered him $50,000 to leave Mackenzie and shamefully, he took it. Having no time for a man who dumped her via letter, Mackenzie dismisses Gabe's sob story, telling him to get out of her life for good.
Meanwhile, having dropped the bombshell question about moving in together, Xander has a recoiling Stacey on his hands. Trying to sweeten the deal, Xander just digs himself a deeper hole. Freaked out by his forthright commitment, Stacey can't get away fast enough. Xander worries that his romantic gesture has backfired, ruining their relationship before it really began.
