Realising her relationship is at risk, Kirby admits to Theo that she needs closure from Bob. Giving her the space that she needs, Theo proves himself to be a supportive partner. Seeing this, a grateful Kirby decides that she needs nothing from Bob and cancels their meet up.

Meanwhile, resolved to play cupid, Felicity pushes the discomfort too far between Cash and Eden. Cash shows up on Eden's doorstep uninvited to explain himself – they only work as a couple when their lives are in crisis.

Cash wants to get his life back on track, so that means staying away from Eden. Crushed, Eden assumes this means going back to being friends. A firm Cash declares that even friendship is off the cards for them now. Forcing stoic, Eden agrees.

Elsewhere, devastated by the news of Marilyn's self-imposed exile, Alf attacks Cash for not revealing her whereabouts. A diplomatic Roo pleads with Cash to give them any information that he can. Getting intel, Roo plans to intercept Marilyn and bring her home at last. Feeling equally culpable for the Heather disaster, Nikau offers to go with Roo.

Marilyn is on an atonement mission, volunteering at a youth shelter in the city. Despite her kind attempts to connect, the disgruntled young people are reluctant. Roo and Nikau are surprised to find a sheepish Marilyn here. Refusing to be sent back to Summer Bay empty-handed, Roo and Nikau decide to join the volunteer force.

When one of the young people runs off with Marilyn's handbag, Nikau is quick to pursue. A heartfelt Roo realises that Marilyn is helping desperate young people to absolve her guilt about Heather.
