Cash is back to work for the first time since the shooting. Cash and Rose encounter a concussed Remi lying on the ground after being hit on the head by a thief. Cash aggressively interrogates Remi for details. Rose pulls Cash away, concerned about his intensity.
After spotting the thief, Cash brutally arrests him, sending red flags to Rose. Back at the station, the thief claims his arm is injured, accusing Cash of police brutality. Rose's quiet word of caution is thrown back in her face – Cash won't be told how to 'kindly' deal with criminals.
When Rose brings the disgruntled arrestee to hospital as a duty of care, Bree also worries for Cash's state of mind following the shooting. Felicity learns about her brother's heavy-handed policing and confronts him. But Cash doesn't want sympathy or babysitting. The new Cash is resolved that nice guys finish last.

Behind her stubborn rejection of Remi, she is warming to him. When Remi asks Bree why she keeps shutting him down, Bree delivers a shocking blow – because she's married.
