Robbo is revealed to be held captive in a pit, with a long chain fastened to his ankle attached to the wall. Finally the door is unlocked and Robbo walks out, still chained. He is stunned to discover Dylan Carter is his captor – the man Robbo believes killed his family. Dylan asks Robbo why he has been asking about his whereabouts, but Robbo keeps his cards close to his chest, trying to find a way to get under Dylan's skin so he can wrong-foot him and escape.
Robbo initially goads Dylan about being a lesser man, irritating him. Dylan becomes wise to Robbo's game and tasers him in the chest as punishment – declaring that he is the one in control. Undeterred, Robbo continues to try and find Dylan's weak spot.
In the nick of time, Robbo finally hits on it when he mentions Kat. Dylan blows up, demanding Robbo to not talk about her. Robbo doesn't back down, continuing to needle him about Kat and how she never loved Dylan. Unable to take it, Dylan charges at Robbo – but Robbo is ready for him, sweeping Dylan off his feet then wrapping the chain around his neck. The tables have turned, but what is Robbo's next move?

Meanwhile, it's the first day of the HSC and what would have been a busy morning for Marilyn is now quiet. Lost at what to do, she decides to start the day with meditation. John noisily interrupts and Marilyn laments that things aren't the same without Raffy. To lighten the situation, John suggests they get out of the house.
The mood continues at the Diner, where they reminisce with Leah about when Raffy and Ryder studied together. Leah wants to spend more time with Justin and Ava and asks Marilyn to cover her shifts, Marilyn gloomily obliges, a reminder that she has more time on her hands now.
Later in the day, a phone call from Raffy seems to cheer Marilyn up but back at home, she feels alone and her emotions flow over. She's comforted by John who reminds her that they still have each other.
Elsewhere, Ben is left shaken after being yelled at by Maggie. His mood only worsens when he heads home to apologise to Ziggy and Dean, and finds them bickering about how to help him. Realising what Maggie said is true – and that he is bringing everybody down – he tells Dean and Ziggy to get on with their lives and pretend he doesn't exist. Ziggy and Dean are shocked by his words, while Ziggy is especially annoyed to learn that Maggie gave Ben an earful.
Ziggy confronts Maggie, who bleakly admits she could have been less blunt with Ben. Maggie adds that she is at the end of her patience and thought yelling at him might be worth a shot. Shocked by how lowly her mum is feeling, Ziggy returns home and makes peace with Dean as they vow to find another way to help Ben together.
At the Diner, Ben overhears Ava lamenting about how Brian has ruined her and her mum's life with his selfish behaviour – and it makes him feel even worse about his own actions.
Also today, Leah worries that Nina and Brian's divorce must have taken a turn for the worse after asking them to look after Ava. Her fears are confirmed by Justin, when he returns to the Bay with a subdued Ava. He reveals that their divorce has turned toxic, and that they might actually have to look after Ava for a few months.
When Ava becomes upset that she has no one to hang out with – in particular, Raffy – she reveals just how bad her parents' divorce is. When Leah talks about her own recent experience with divorce – and how she has managed to come through the other side stronger and happier – Ava finally begins to feel a bit better.
