Former EastEnders star Marc Elliott has crushing news for 'Chryed' fans - he's unlikely to ever return to the show.

The actor bowed out from his role as Syed Masood in 2012 and has never been lured back for a guest stint to visit his on-screen family on the Square.

Marc returns to our screens next week with a brand new part as a surgeon in Holby City, which is filmed in the same BBC studios as EastEnders.

However, asked whether he could pop over to film some scenes as Syed, Marc told Inside Soap: "I'm a very busy surgeon, so sadly I don't think there'll be enough time!

"I reckon my EastEnders days are done, to be honest. I had an incredible time which I think came to a very satisfying conclusion, so I'm happy to say that it's in the past now. I don't see myself going back there.

"Holby feels like a totally different job. I thought that when I went back to Elstree, there would be loads of old ghosts lurking around from my previous role.

John Partridge, who plays Syed's partner Christian Clarke, has returned to EastEnders for guest stints three times since the popular couple left Walford together in 2012.

Marc's Holby City character is being introduced as a new love interest for established regular Dominic Copeland, who is currently grieving following the loss of his best friend Arthur Digby.
