Death comes calling to Walford next week as EastEnders brings Hunter Owen's story to a shocking climax.

The unmissable episodes will see Whitney and Callum's wedding collide with Hunter Owen's worrying revenge plan, culminating in a terrifying siege at the Queen Vic.

In dramatic scenes airing in the Friday episode (September 6), someone's life hangs in the balance after a shot is fired – and we already know that not everyone will be making it out of the week alive.

So, who is most at risk of meeting an untimely end? Here are 13 of the most likely possibilities…

1. Hunter Owen

Hunter in EastEnders
BBC

Hunter's impending doom has been widely speculated in the tabloids for weeks now and it's the one that makes the most sense.

Charlie Winter has only reprised his role as devil child Hunter for a short stint, meaning his departure is imminent, while Tamzin Outhwaite – who plays his on screen mum Mel – is bowing out shortly, too.

We already know that someone will lose their life amid Hunter's revenge plan for Jack, but could a slice of poetic justice see the teen end up six feet under when it all goes drastically wrong?

2. Mel Owen

BBC

Of course, with Mel's days in Walford numbered too, there's every chance that she will end up as next week's unfortunate fatality.

Mel is currently risking everything in a desperate bid to smuggle her sinister son out of the country – a decision she's bound to regret when he takes shocking action later on.

As we mentioned, Tamzin is on her way out of the show – but details of Mel's exit story are being kept firmly under wraps. Is that because she's about to meet her fatal end at the hands of Hunter?

3. Callum Highway

Callum Highway in EastEnders
BBC

Callum has a whole host of fans wanting him to live happily ever after with Ben, but as we all know too well, the Soap Gods often have ideas of their own.

Callum decides to come clean with Whitney prior to their big day, throwing her wedding dreams upside down. But as a question mark looms over Callum's future with both Whitney and Ben, could the decision be taken out of all of their hands when he falls victim to the shooting?

Perhaps he'll declare his love for Ben on his deathbed in the ultimate tragic twist of fate...

4. Ben Mitchell

Ben Mitchell is shocked by Sharon's revelation in EastEnders
BBC

Sorry Ballum fans, but we're getting a little fearful for Ben as well. He's been at the centre of more or less every single Walford scandal since he returned earlier this year, so there's every chance Ben's action-packed stint could be coming to an end.

Unsurprisingly, Ben's about to face more drama when Whitney finds out about his fling with Callum in the lead-up to her wedding. He's also due to have an epic showdown with a furious Keanu Taylor over his lies regarding Phil's attack.

Given that so many residents appear to have beef with him, we wouldn't blame Ben for heading to The Vic for a pint or two to unwind – placing him slap bang in the middle of yet another drama when Hunter arrives...

5. Whitney Dean

Whitney in EastEnders
BBC

Whitney wouldn't be the first soap bride to meet a tragic end on her wedding day, and we already know she'll be at the forefront of next week's dramatic episodes.

When Whitney hears the truth about Callum and Ben in the lead up to her big day, she is faced with the heartbreaking decision over whether to follow through with the nuptials or not.

It remains to be seen whether Whitney does end up becoming Mrs Highway or not, but could everything be turned on its head regardless if she's the one who gets shot?

6. Stuart Highway

Stuart Highway sees Callum dressed up for Pride in EastEnders
BBC

If we cast our minds back to this time last year, reformed villain Stuart was actually at the centre of a shooting scandal of his own. Stuart was gunned down in another soap-style showdown at The Vic, only it later transpired that he'd actually pulled the trigger himself.

Fast-forward twelve months, and Stuart actually has a lot going for him these days – after striking up a tentative romance with Rainie Cross and attempting to rebuild his fractured relationship with brother Callum.

It's because of this that we wouldn't actually be surprised if Stuart made the ultimate soap leap from villain to hero by taking the trigger for one of his nearest and dearest – aka Callum or Rainie – if they were to run into trouble.

7. Jack Branning

Jack Branning in EastEnders
BBC

Jack is a fairly hot contender on this list, given that he's vengeful Hunter's current main target. Hunter blames Jack for his prison fate and has already been floating the idea of getting his own back.

Sure enough, Hunter looks set to stick to his word next week and he is soon heading off to find Jack – armed with a weapon. Uh oh.

8. Denise Fox

BBC

We already know that Denise will get caught in the crossfire of Hunter's menacing mission, but what we don't yet know is what this means for her.

As Hunter lies in wait for Jack, he gives Denise a terrible fright when she arrives home instead. But what's slightly worrying is that the spoilers haven't revealed what happens after they cross paths…

9. Louise Mitchell

Louise Mitchell and Keanu Taylor reunite in EastEnders
BBC

She did a runner with her troubled boyfriend Keanu earlier in the month, but as it happens, Louise might have actually been safer staying away.

Louise and Keanu's return to Walford will collide somewhat catastrophically with Hunter's frightening revenge plan, suggesting their strife is far from over.

Spoilers confirm that pregnant Louise will indeed be in The Vic when all the trouble kicks off, but fans will have to wait and see if she can escape unscathed.

10. Bex Fowler

BBC

Bex is another name confirmed to be in the pub at the time of the siege when she picks an unfortunate time – and location – to have a catch up with her best friend Louise.

When Bex spots Louise back on the Square, the girls quickly rush into The Vic to hide from Sharon, putting them very much in the wrong place at the wrong time. Yikes.

11. Rainie Cross

Rainie Branning gets upset in EastEnders
BBC

Rainie is a bit of a wild card due to the fact her name hasn't cropped up much in the spoilers for next week, but we're still including her all the same.

After a troubling few years, Rainie has just started to find happiness with Stuart, but we wouldn't be surprised if the grim reaper was to rain on her parade and cruelly snatch it away.

12. and 13. Lola and Jay

lola and jay in eastenders
BBC

Next week's spoilers appear to offer a glimmer of hope in Lola and Jay's on-off love story... or do they? Lola has romance on her mind in the high-stakes scenes as she struggles to hide her feelings for him amid the drama at The Vic.

Fans of the former couple perhaps might not want to get their hopes up too much though, as we all know the score by now. It would be a tragic and somewhat typical EastEnders-style twist to reunite them moments before tearing them apart forever; a pattern we've seen too many times before.

EastEnders airs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on BBC One.
