EastEnders star Tamzin Outhwaite has hinted that Hunter Owen won't be killed off when the character makes his Albert Square exit.

The BBC soap confirmed that Charlie Winter, who plays Mel's son, will be leaving as the ongoing murder plot reaches a natural conclusion. Hunter shot his villainous stepfather Ray dead, and this week will see Ray's body being found.

But Tamzin, speaking on today's This Morning (February 11), suggested that the door will be left open for Charlie to return – implying that Hunter isn't going to be leaving in a body bag.

"Yes," she said when asked whether or not Charlie could return. "And I think he should at some stage.

"It was his first acting job, and he ended up being the murderer. So how do you stay on the Square being a murderer? It's difficult not to say anything!"

Tamzin also teased what's in store for Mel and Hunter in the coming episodes, as she said that Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) will play a significant part in the storyline.

"We don't know [whether he can be trusted]," she said. "But she uses him as an alibi, and he agrees and goes along with it all. And then, stupidly, she tells him everything... She tells him everything that happened in detail, and he agrees to help her leave the country and flee.

"He's an ex-cop, and she thinks, 'He's going to really have contacts, he's going to look after me' – but will he?"
