Coronation Street fans were sent into a panic after it was reported in the tabloids that actress Beverley Callard was taking a month off from the show and could even be quitting.

The star, who plays Liz McDonald in the soap, tweeted that she would be appearing in The Rocky Horror Show on stage.

She said: "Hi all seems like a great day to let you know, I'm so excited and maybe a little terrified to be performing in The Rocky Horror Show at the Opera House Manchester. Jan 9-26. Can't wait!!! Come and see us!"

This led to reports that she was taking the whole month off from Corrie, and that bosses were afraid she would leave the soap altogether.

Well, not to worry. Coronation Street has confirmed to Digital Spy that because the play is taking place in Manchester throughout that month (other stars will be playing the narrator as it tours elsewhere), her role as Liz won't be affected at all.
