Aidan Turner will soon be swapping his scythe for the stage, as the Poldark actor is due to make his West End debut next year.
Far removed from his whimsical, brooding war veteran, Turner will be taking on the role of Padraic in an adaptation of Martin McDonagh's The Lieutenant of Inishmore.
According to the Daily Mail, performances of the controversial comedy – in which Aidan plays a cat-loving Irish terrorist – will kick off in June 2018 and run until September.

Admitting he was looking forward to getting to grips with the play's "unique style of dark humour", Aidan revealed that Poldark fans may be surprised by his upcoming role.
"It's the furthest I can get from Ross Poldark that I can possibly imagine," he teased.
What to Read Next
If you'd rather see Aidan back as the perpetually-shirtless Poldark, then worry not – work on series four of the drama is officially under way.
Earlier this year, the BBC confirmed that filming has started on new instalments in Cornwall, Bristol and London, as the next series gears up for a 2018 release.
Although series four is well and truly underway, it doesn't mean that series five is a given – and as for series six, well you may as well write that off entirely.
"I think we run out of things to do after series five. I think that would be our last one," the actor recently admitted. "Four was green-lit, five hasn't been yet...but it's probably looking like it may happen."
Poldark series four will return to BBC One in 2018.
