Kensington Palace has released touching images from Princess Charlotte's recent christening on its Instagram page this afternoon (July 9).

The royal baby was christened in a private ceremony at the Church of St Mary Magdalene in Sandringham, Norfolk, last Sunday (July 5).

Two-month old Princess Charlotte, who was born on May 2, was held by her mother the Duchess of Cambridge as the family made their first public appearance as a four. Big brother Prince George was dressed up for the occasion in red shorts.

The new images of the special occasion - shot by renowned portrait photographer Mario Testino - include a portrait of Prince William holding first born Prince George and Catherine cradling Princess Charlotte.

Prince William and Prince George appear in a tender black and white snap taken in the garden at Sandringham House, and another photo sees Catherine looking down at Princess Charlotte, who is in turn looking at the camera.

Prince George was previously christened in 2013 at St James's Palace.
