The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have revealed that they are expecting their third child.

Kensington Palace announced the news on Twitter today (September 4) saying: "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their third child."

In a statement, Kensington Palace said: "Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their third child.

"The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news."

As with her previous two pregnancies, the Duchess is suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum, or severe morning sickness.

"The Duchess is being cared for at Kensington Palace," the statement added.

As a result, Catherine will no longer carry out her planned engagement at the Hornsey Road Children's Centre in London today.

Prince Harry also shared his congratulations on hearing he will be an uncle again, telling reporters: "Fantastic, great! Very, very happy for them."

Today's news comes after the Duchess hinted that a third baby was on the cards during a visit to Poland.

When presented with a cuddly toy, the Duchess turned to the Duke and laughed: "We will just have to have more babies."
