Cheryl Cole confirmed her surprise marriage by way of shoving a beautiful diamond wedding ring in our faces on Instagram last night (July 13).
As we stared down at our blingless hands, we found ourselves wondering just how much that sparkler would have set back new hubby Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini.

To find out, we got in touch with jewellery and diamond expert Lewis Malka, the youngest member of the London Diamond Bourse, for his verdict on the ring and tips on how you can get Cheryl's look for less....
"It appears Cheryl has a lovely 5 carat, emerald cut diamond engagement ring, enhanced with trapezium cut diamonds on the shoulders, in a platinum claw set ring. I estimate its value at between £200,000 and £250,000.
"Whilst a lot of people are opting for the big spread of the halo design, in which an array of small diamonds are put around the center stone of the ring to make it seem bigger, Cheryl's ring seems to be very understated. It's in keeping with the low key and intimate approach to the wedding itself. Her wedding band is very chic, pave set with diamonds all the way round.

"Cheryl's ring could easily be replicated by a specialist jeweller, but if your budget isn't as big, there are a few things you can do to reduce the price. Of course, this can be done by simply scaling it down, but the real beauty of diamonds is that there are so many characteristics which make up a price. A few small changes can help you get the look for less.
"For instance, compromising on clarity over colour will cut your bill by thousands of pounds. You can also consider having tapered baguettes - relatively small, elongated diamonds where the two long sides taper inward - instead of trapezium."
