Hopefully you're all gearing up for your summer hols and getting ready for a month or so of blisswell (fingers crossed!) weather. Due to my telly work over the next few weeks, my summer relax has been and gone, but what better way to enjoy a few days down time than to pop to celeb hotspot and home to the Ryder Cup, Celtic Manor in Wales.
A most enjoyable few days swanning around the vast resort which boasts the most enormous golf courses and which played host to the Celebrity Cup last weekend, and spa/fitness facilities which certainly were needed after the enormous meal enjoyed at the former Chris Evans owned boozer, which now belongs to the swanky resort. A super start to my summer – thank you.
And so to work I go, with 'Phil n' Holly' taking a well earned rest over the summer break, ITV's This Morning Summer kicks off from next week with husband and wife duo Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford at the helm, and JLS's Marvin Humes and his Saturday's missus Rochelle taking over the Friday spot. I'm delighted to be back on the famous sofa too next week, talking all things 'youth', so do tune in from Tuesday.
With Miss Willoughby enjoying some pregnancy down time, it's also been announced who will be stepping in to her shoes to cover her impending maternity leave later this year. Christine Bleakley and Amanda Holden are to share hosting duties alongside the 'silver fox' Phillip Schofield, and I for one think both choices are spot on. Both ladies are extremely lovely, down to earth and smart, and will be a great asset to the show in Holly's absence.
A great week for Hollywood stars Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling who are rumoured to be expecting their first child. The couple have neither confirmed nor denied the news (which surely means yes right?!) with the 40 year old actress said to be seven months gone already. If the gossip is true I guess we won't have long to wait to find out….and one thing's for sure, that is going to be one heck of a good looking baby!
Not such a great week for singer *slash* actress Alexandra Burke. Following in the critically acclaimed footsteps of Beverley Knight was never going to be an easy task, however, to be fair to the former X Factor winner, her recent performance in West End show The Bodyguard has won some pretty decent reviews.

But it seems possessing a decent voice alone isn't good enough these days. Only a month into the role made famous by the late Whitney Houston, with half empty seats and falling tickets sales, the curtain is reportedly to fall on Alexandra and the show from next month. Blaming her lack of 'likeability' for the alleged demise in the show's popularity seems rather harsh, but with rumour suggesting that the "Broken Heels' singer will not be asked to continue when the show is taken on tour later this year, does suggest that all is not up to the mark in 'Camp Burke'. Yet the latest in the ever-growing list of West End show closures. Eek.
And along with a load of over excited children and their celebrity parents, I popped along to the world premiere of Pudsey The Movie, starring Britain's Got Talent winner, Pudsey the dog, and David Walliams, who lends his voice to the pooch. There's nothing quite like a slapstick dog movie on a Sunday morning in central London – now there's a sentence I never thought I'd write – and if you like cute canines, a schmaltzy storyline and 'our Cheryl' from The Royal Family, then you're in for a treat.
A heavily preggers Claire Sweeney, Kate Garroway, Sinitta and actress Jill Halfpenny all rocked up with their broods, and we were even treated to a surprise visit from new BGT winners Collabro, who I managed to rudely barge past on the way in, much was my desire (medicinal Sunday morning NEED!) to reach the coffee station – sorry lads! Verdict – the new 'Lassie' but way cuter, and as much as I pretended to find the theme tune annoying, I was humming it all the way home.
