Some fathers just can't wait to get their hands on their newborn babies, and that is especially true with The Walking Dead star Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

The Negan actor and his wife Hilarie Burton welcomed their second child, a daughter named George, a couple of months back. Rather than have someone else deliver her (and their first child, eight-year old Gus) however, the couple decided Morgan would do it himself.

"We didn't use doctors, we used a midwife, so I delivered both of my kids," he revealed in PEOPLE.

"The first time I didn't know, I was shocked that I was part of it. I thought I was going to hold the leg, tell her to hopefully breathe and I wasn't ready when I took my position.

"This time I was a little bit more prepared and got in and got her out immediately. As soon as her head breached I reached in there, grabbed her by the cheeks and got her out. Hilarie was over it, so it was awesome.

Of course, the actor didn't just go in blind, as it were. He revealed that he took part in a childbirth class before George's arrival, although he joked that "nothing that we talk about (in the class) actually happens and it's kind of free for all".

The star also took his son Gus to the premiere of Rampage, in which Morgan stars alongside Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. You can check out our review right here.

The Walking Dead airs on AMC in the US and on FOX and NOW TV in the UK.
