One Direction have admitted that they were "a little bit angry" with Zayn Malik when he announced his decision to leave the band.
The group made their first US TV appearance since becoming a four-piece on The Late Late Show with James Corden on Thursday night (May 14).
On how their feelings have changed since Malik left, Liam Payne said: "At first we were a little bit angry, obviously. We were surprised, but I think we all knew the sort of vibe Zayn was feeling. From the outside people could tell as well.
"There's certain parts of this job Zayn loved and there's certain parts of that he didn't. If you don't like your job then you've got to follow your heart sometimes and go where you need to go. There's no arguing with that.
"Like I say, we were angry at first but then it was just a bit more disappointed. We wish him the best of luck with whatever he gets up to. There's no hard feelings, and things are going to carry on as usual."
Louis Tomlinson - who was criticised by Malik for making "bitchy comments" about him on Twitter - said that he has patched things up with his former bandmate.

"There's been a bit of back and forth. We're on good terms with him," he said. "I've never been good at biting my tongue.
"Twitter is great for connecting with the fans, but also if you feel like saying something you probably shouldn't it's also good for that as well - or bad in this case.
"It's all resolved now. It's all good in the hood."
Malik has paid tribute to his former bandmates since leaving the group, describing them as "four of the best guys" during his speech at the Annual Asian Awards last month.
