After a long, long wait, The Avalanches are officially back.

The electronic Aussie group have announced that their new album Wildflower will be released on July 8 - and they've also premiered a new song.

Their first new track in 16 years, 'Frankie Sinatra' takes The Avalanches into hip-hop territory with guest slots from rappers Danny Brown and MF Doom.

The group wrote on Twitter: "Sorry we kept you waiting. It's been a wild ride and at times we thought we'd never make it through.

"What kept us going was the belief in the day-to-day experience of music as a life force  - as life energy. How music can change the tone of your day. How the sunlight refracts differently through the atmosphere can make the world look different, changing colours and feelings. What a beautiful thing sound waves can be. It's magic."

'Frankie Sinatra' arrives ahead of The Avalanches' first comeback show on June 3 at Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona, Spain. They're also coming to London on June 12 for Field Day at Victoria Park.

Last month, The Avalanches released an incredibly self-aware trailer for their long-awaited second album with "decades in the making" and "coming soon" emblazoned on the screen.

Up until now, their 2000 debut album Since I Left You was their only release.
