Brace yourselves for another week of massive music releases. Rihanna's outed herself as a Trekker, Fergie's got that 'MILF money' and everyone's favourite Swedish popstar has returned. So without further ado, it's time to crank up the volume of the latest and greatest on #NewMusicFriday.
1. RIHANNA: 'Sledgehammer'
She might be BadGalRiri, but she's still got time to be a Trekker too, y'know. All along, pop's badass singer Rihanna was a huge Star Trek fan, and she's teamed up with Sia to co-write dramatic new single 'Sledgehammer' for the upcoming movie. It's packed full of cinematic strings and a towering chorus that'll instantly set your phasers to stun.
2. FERGIE: 'M.I.L.F.$'
The Dutchess is back, but if you thought motherhood would tame her sassy attitude, then you couldn't be more wrong. 'M.I.L.F.$' hears Fergie-Ferg strut into the club like the G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S mum she is, causing the right kind of commotion with its twerk-inducing beats and glorious finale.
3. MABEL: 'Thinking Of You'
What to Read Next
We've been fans of rising star Mabel for some time now, but her latest single 'Thinking Of You' has to be one of her finest releases yet. It echoes the very best of '90s R&B, while its lyrics of missing people and places helps form one of the most heavenly melodies we've heard this year.
4. METRONOMY FT. ROBYN: 'Hang Me Out To Dry'
Yay, Robyn is back! Kind of, anyway. The Swedish popstar has cropped up on Metronomy's new song 'Hang Me Out To Dry' to lend them some of her distinctive vocals. After listening to the track it seems strange that weird pop purveyors Metronomy haven't thought to team up with Robyn before. Oscillating synths and urgent melodies. It's a pop power couple.
5. IMANI WILLIAMS: 'Don't Need No Money'
Why team up with one dance act of the moment when you can have two? That's what rising British vocalist Imani Williams has done for her storming debut single. Sigala and Blonde share production duties, building a blood-racing chorus big enough to match Imani's huge vocals. Your summer anthem has finally arrived.
6. DEMI LOVATO: 'Body Say'
If you thought Demi Lovato was at her most seductive with gender-bending single 'Cool For The Summer', prepare to get musically sexed up. The singer's just dropped her new single 'Body Say' and she's been taking notes from Ariana Grande's Dangerous Woman. "If I had it my way, I would take you deep," she purrs. Probably not one to sing in the car with your mum, then.
7. JAMIE T: 'Tinfoil Boy'
Blimey, Jamie T vanishes off the face of the Earth for 5 years and then you get a new album and a new track with barely a couple of years between them. After his well-received comeback album it looks like we could be due another record very soon. The London singer-songwriter has shared a new track 'Tinfoil Boy' inspired by Rage Against The Machine, so naturally it's his rockiest yet.
8. LANY: 'yea, babe, no way'
Who needs gushing break-up songs with poetic metaphors about love and misery? Los Angeles-based alt-pop group LANY do it way better with declarations like: "Everything was better when/You would call and I'd be like 'yeah, babe'." The trio have just dropped a new EP 'Kinda' and will head to the UK in August for four headline shows.
9. SAINT PHNX: 'Reload'
If there's one band coming through at the moment who'll make Kasabian sit up and take note, it's Glaswegian brothers Saint PHNX. As far as debut singles go, 'Reload' is a roaring triumph ready for the festival circuit. Think rumbling guitars, beats that'll get you stomping, and an airy chorus good enough to pump some much-needed adrenaline into rock music.
10. STOOSHE: 'Let It Go'
Stooshie's 2012 hit 'Black Heart' was so catchy it even had Corrie's Gail Platt singing it round her living room. Four years on, the London girl group have rustled up another song that has the potential to make it into the cobbles' radio airwaves. 'Let It Go' (not that one) is an infectious summer stomper intent on putting the group back on the map.
