Halsey has unveiled the intense music video for her new single 'Now or Never'.

The track is the first taster of her upcoming album hopeless fountain kingdom (following in Zayn's footsteps with the misuse of capitals), which is due out on June 2, and the video itself marks Halsey's directorial debut.

Co-directed with Sing J Lee, the video imagines Halsey as a star-crossed lover, forever kept from the man she loves and features a dramatic shootout which, fortunately, they both survive.

It's a story that will continue throughout her new album.

"[The video] is one part in the centre of a long narrative that tells the story of two people in love despite the forces trying to keep them apart," Halsey explained.

"On its own, the song is about two impatient lovers, but in the context of the hopeless fountain kingdom universe, the stakes are much higher for these two star-crossed lovers."
