Not content with having iconic monsters Godzilla and King Kong together in one film, Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros is now bringing in the acting big guns with its latest casting.
Emmy-winning Big Little Lies star Alexander Skarsgård is the latest name attached to the upcoming monster epic Godzilla vs Kong, according to Deadline.
What to Read Next
He'll be joining confirmed cast members Julian Dennison, Brian Tyree Henry and Demian Bichir in the film, although any details about the part he'll be playing haven't been revealed just yet.
Blair Witch director Adam Wingard has signed on to helm the film, which will be the fourth in Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures' new monster universe that began with 2014's Godzilla, before being followed by 2017's Kong: Skull Island.
A sequel to Godzilla, titled Godzilla: King of the Monsters, is scheduled to be released next year, with Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga and Millie Bobby Brown starring.
Filming on Godzilla vs Kong is already underway, with its release set for May 22, 2020.
Meanwhile, Skarsgard will next be seen in the upcoming John le Carré adaptation The Little Drummer Girl, from the same creative team who delivered The Night Manager, but the actor and his co-star Florence Pugh insist that the new show is "completely unique" and the two shouldn't be compared.
"Very different tone, very different era, very different story," Skarsgård said.
"The similarities [to The Night Manager] are in the factory behind it, and obviously it's a John le Carré story. But I never thought about it, in developing and working on the character, or while we were shooting it or anything."
The Little Drummer Girl premieres this Sunday (October 28) at 9pm on BBC One.
