Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has been a box-office hit with almost $200 million taken worldwide over its opening weekend.

The new movie marks the fifth big-screen outing of the shared universe that brings together Godzilla, King Kong and all manner of titans. It expanded last year with Apple TV+ show Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.

We don't yet know what the future holds for the MonsterVerse, but it looks promising after that huge debut. As a result, you'd be forgiven for thinking that Godzilla x Kong might tease something for a future movie in a credits scene.

So here's whether you need to wait around once the credits start to roll on Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

Does Godzilla x Kong have a post-credits scene?

We can confirm that Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire does not have any credit scenes, either during or after the credits.

It's perhaps not a surprise that the new movie doesn't have any post-credits scenes as director Adam Wingard also didn't include any credit scenes in previous movie Godzilla vs Kong.

What to Read Next

Given the MonsterVerse's track record with credits scenes, it's probably for the best too. Like the MCU recently, the MonsterVerse hasn't done a great job at following up on any credit scene teasers they've included so far.

Kong: Skull Island teased the return of James Conrad (Tom Hiddleston) and Mason Weaver (Brie Larson) with them recruited into Monarch, and we've seen nothing of the duo since that movie's release.

As for Godzilla: King of the Monsters, that had a credits scene of Alan Jonah (Charles Dance) buying one of King Ghidorah's severed heads. Again, this story thread has yet to be picked up in the two movies since.

Just because Godzilla x Kong doesn't have an end credits scene, it doesn't mean that Wingard hasn't been thinking of the future.

"I think the seductive thing as a filmmaker when you've done two movies is to complete it as this trilogy — that's always what everybody expects," he explained.

"I think that there's a lot of really cool ideas we have [about] where we would go with it. I'm open to it and excited for what the future brings."

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is out now in cinemas.
