Get Out actor Lakeith Stanfield has reportedly signed up for The Girl in the Spider's Web.

The actor, who also stars in Atlanta and Death Note, will star opposite Claire Foy in the long-awaited sequel to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, which is due to start filming this month.

While official details of his role remains under wraps, The Hollywood Reporter claims that Stanfield will play an NSA security expert tracking Lisbeth Salander (Foy).

The Crown actress takes over the role from Rooney Mara, who was the lead in 2011's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

"I couldn't be more thrilled about Claire taking the reins of the iconic Lisbeth Salander," director Fede Alvarez said of her casting.

"Claire is an incredible, rare talent who will inject a new and exciting life into Lisbeth. I can't wait to bring this new story to a worldwide audience, with Claire Foy at its centre."
