We've got our first look at the latest beastie joining Legendary's MonsterVerse, and let's just say we're feeling pretty unnerved right now.

Although we've got a while until we'll see anything other than Kong: Skull Island, Monarch Sciences has tweeted news that an official Monarch classified file has been unlocked.

Yes, Mothra is officially coming – and while it won't be appearing on the big screen until 2019's Godzilla sequel, our inner-mottephobe is already quaking in its boots.

"Unlocked: Monarch Classified File #63061 – Temple of the Moth, Yucca Province – E. Russell", the mysterious tweet reads.

One thing that isn't a mystery, though, is the official synopsis of the as-yet-untitled Godzilla sequel, which has already confirmed the return of Mothra and other horrible kaiju.

"The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah.

"When these ancient super-species — thought to be mere myths — rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity's very existence hanging in the balance," it reads.

The Godzilla sequel – starring Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon's Zhang Ziyi, Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) and Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things) – is scheduled for release in March 2019.

Oh, and there's a Godzilla vs Kong movie expecting to drop in May 2020, too.
