2017 is a big year for Ridley Scott sequels. Alien: Covenant is finally out this week, and the Denis Villeneuve-directed Blade Runner 2049 is coming in October.
And with two series prominently featuring androids back in the spotlight, it's small wonder that shared universe theories are in the air.
The second Blade Runner 2049 trailer arrived this week, and fans think that they've spotted an Alien/Prometheus Easter egg in the teaser.
Fans are theorising that the figure in the case on the far right is one of humanity's alien creators – known as 'engineers' or 'space jockeys' – which were revealed in Prometheus.

Blade Runner 2049 stars Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas, Mackenzie Davis, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista and Jared Leto, with Harrison Ford reprising his role as Rick Deckard from the original 1982 movie.
Cue speculation as to whether Gosling's LAPD officer is another replicant.
Blade Runner 2049 will be released on October 6, while Alien: Covenant opens in cinemas this Friday (May 12).
