One of the biggest mysteries to come out of 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy was the identity of Star-Lord's father.
James Gunn has already revealed the identity of the "angel composed of pure light" (as Peter Quill's mum would have it), and it looks like a major chunk of the sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, will concern the fluctuating relationship between Chris Pratt's hero and his dad.

OK, so it hardly counts as a spoiler (director James Gunn told us so!), but for those not in the know, Kurt Russell will portray Quill's father, Ego the Living Planet. Meeting him is going to shake Star-Lord's world.
"It runs the gamut of emotions for him, wanting to understand why his father wasn't around to quickly idolising him and ultimately learning the reality of the relationship and comparing the man who sired him to the man who raised him," Gunn told USA Today.
It's still not quite clear how Ego will appear in the film (or how he managed to father Quill), and as far as we can tell he was not seen in the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 trailers.
Gunn also spoke about the process of the Guardians transforming from a group of misfits to a proper family – one that will be tested in the new movie.
"To let somebody love you is a very difficult thing, especially when you're damaged goods," he said. "And all of the Guardians are damaged goods."
The plot of Guardians 2 isn't known in detail yet but is believed to centre around the main villain Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki) – when not dealing with Star-Lord and his pops, at least.
Pratt will be joined by his returning co-stars Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan and Michael Rooker, as well as newcomers Sylvester Stallone and Pom Klementieff.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 will be released on April 28 in the UK and May 5 in the US.
