In light of the whitewashing controversy DreamWorks has received for its adaptation of Ghost in the Shell, the movie has added an Asian actress to its cast.

Rila Fukushima, who previously appeared in 2013's Wolverine, will be joining the movie - but no word on who she'll be playing, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Ghost in the Shell has received criticism for whitewashing the original Masamune Shirow manga, especially casting Scarlett Johansson to play the Japanese lead character Kusanagi.

Additionally, DreamWorks and Paramount allegedly at once considered to include 'ethnicity-shifting' visual effects to make their white actors look Asian.
