So, after being rumoured for Spider-Man: Homecoming, dropping out and then being rumoured again, Michael Keaton has been officially confirmed for the Marvel Studios and Sony team-up.

Deadline reports that the Birdman star has signed on for Jon Watt's Tom Holland-starring superhero adventure.

But who will he play? JoBlo claims that the rumours he will play long-time Spider-Man foe the Vulture are true - and that he will be teaming up with another villain, the tech-savvy Tinkerer.

They are said to team up to create the Vulture's flying suit out of Chitauri technology retrieved after the invasion of New York in Avengers.

A plot outline that was leaked on 4chan last week supports the reports that Keaton will play the flying criminal Adrian Toomes - although it is at odds with the Tinkerer rumours.

Apparently - and against all odds - there was some spare budget found once Robert Downey Jr was firmly on board, and so Keaton became a possibility for the movie again.
