There was only one place to be on Monday night (December 14), and that was Hollywood as the cast of the new Star Wars movie hit the red carpet for its world premiere.
The highly-anticipated sequel, which has already broken numerous records, is being screened in front of a public audience for the first time in what some are calling the biggest premiere in movie history. The event is available to watch on StarWars.com.
The Force Awakens is being shown at three cinemas in Los Angeles, including the TCL Chinese Theatre - which first premiered Star Wars in 1977 - the Dolby Theatre and El Capitan Theatre.
All of the cast were in attendance, including Harrison Ford, Lupita Nyong'o, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Oscar Isaac and Andy Serkis, who greeted dozens of Stormtroopers at the entrance to the premiere.
Director JJ Abrams spent time waving to the thousands of fans who cosplayed as their favourite characters, while BB-8 itself also rolled down the red carpet to pose for photographers.
Some famous locals also turned up, including Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Yoda and Rainn Wilson as a Jedi.
