The first action-packed trailer for The Legend of Tarzan has premiered and... let's just say its a long way from Disney's 1999 Phil Collins-soundtracked cartoon.

Alexander Skarsgård stars as the eponymous tree-swinging hero, this story also focusing on his post-jungle life as a gentrified London man living with Jane (Margot Robbie).

However, he goes back to the Congo as part of a plot by Belgian Captain Rom (Christoph Waltz).

In the trailer we see a focus on the actual legend of Tarzan, as well as plenty of gorillas, CGI action and Samuel L Jackson repeatedly saying: "You're Tarzan!"

The David Yates (Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) directed film also stars Jim Broadbent, John Hurt and Djimon Hounsou.

The Legend of Tarzan will be released in US cinemas July 1, 2016, and is slated for a UK release on July 8.
