Jeremy Allen White's new Bruce Springsteen movie Deliver Me From Nowhere has finally hit cinemas, though fans will be curious to know whether he actually sings in the film. The project eschews the normal biopic route, instead focusing on a particular period in the rock icon's life.
The movie follows Springsteen as he creates his 1982 album Nebraska, all while dealing with personal and professional struggles.
Also starring Jeremy Strong as manager and producer Jon Landau, and Stephen Graham as Springsteen's father Douglas, Deliver Me From Nowhere has largely drawn acclaim, sitting at a 61% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Does Jeremy Allen White sing in the Springsteen movie?
Given the musical subject matter, the film of course needs prominent vocals, and fans will be pleased to know that White actually does his own singing in the role of Springsteen.
"I've got a really talented group of people helping me train vocally, musically, to get ready for this thing," the actor told GQ last year while preparing for the role.
Speaking recently about how Springsteen himself was convinced to let him sing, White recalled a recording session where the Boss gave him the seal of approval after hearing the actor's rendition of 'Mansion on the Hill'.

"This is about three months before we started shooting, and then Bruce listened," he told Entertainment Tonight. "And Bruce said, 'It sounds great. You sound like me, but not just like me. You made this song your own, and that's how I want you to make this film.'
"So very early on, I had his permission to make the man my own and make the story my own, which meant a lot."
Springsteen himself recently elaborated on The Graham Norton Show: "When he’s singing the songs, he’s leaning into the music’s internal life, and he captures the most important thing about performing a piece of music. Not only does he do that in the song but he also does it in his performance, and it just feels very, very real and very, very authentic."
Marc Maron, who portrays producer Chuck Plotkin in the movie, told The Hollywood Reporter that hearing White sing in character for the first time "was pretty amazing".
"I think he fooled Bruce too, from what I hear," he added. "Bruce couldn’t tell on a couple of songs whether it was him or Jeremy — seriously, I’m not making that up. Bruce said that, there you go. I definitely heard that on set, I’m not talking out of school there."
Director Scott Cooper also praised White's "incredible" vocals, sharing: "I knew he had been enduring the kind of humbling process of becoming Bruce through vocal lessons and guitar lessons and harmonica lessons and movement lessons, but until you see it you have no idea.
"It was like I was struck by lightning and it was one of the great experiences of my film career."
