Wicked: For Good has revealed which Netflix star will be voicing the Cowardly Lion in a surprise announcement that has delighted fans. Speaking recently about who would voice the famous lion, director Jon M Chu said he reached out to the mystery voice star via Instagram, adding that the identity of the Cowardly Lion would likely not be revealed until the premiere.
Despite Chu's remarks, Wicked 2 took to Instagram today, revealing that The Four Seasons star Colman Domingo would be voicing the character.
In a short clip shared to social media, Domingo is seen holding a stuffed lion in front of his face, which he then removes to reveal his identity. "See you in Oz," he says as the clip introduces him as the Cowardly Lion.
Taking to the comment section, people shared their thoughts on the news, with one excited fan penning: "OMGGG!!!!! WHAT A LEGEND!!! THIS IS AMAZING!!!!"

"IM LITERALLY CRYING I LOVE COLMAN SO MUCH THIS JUST MADE ME EVEN MORE EXCITED AND I THOUGHT I WAS ALREADY AS EXCITED AS I COULD BEEEE," wrote another fan.

Opening up about how he approached Domingo in a recent interview with Deadline, Chu said he messaged the actor on Instagram.
"I was like, 'It's not a ton of lines, but maybe you have a little time. I know you're busy. I'll come to you.' He was like, 'Why the f**k not, let's go!' And then we went ahead and recorded the lines," Chu said.
"Man, wait until the red carpet when the actor who gave us the Cowardly Lion's voice steps foot on it. It'll be wild," he added.
Wicked: For Good is released in cinemas on 21 November.
