Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning has been a record-breaking hit on its opening weekend, so if you're heading to see it this week to see what the fuss is about, you might be wondering whether there's any credit scenes to stick around for.
The epic blockbuster is the culmination of not just Dead Reckoning's cliffhanger ending, but the entire Mission: Impossible series to date. Whether this is really the end of the series remains to be seen, but is there anything in the credits to give you a hint?
We can confirm that Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning does not have a post-credit scene, or any credit scenes for that matter.
For long-term fans of the series, this won't be a surprise. After all, none of the other seven movies have had credit scenes of any note; even Dead Reckoning didn't have a tease for its direct sequel unless you count a brief noise from the Entity.
However, it might be a surprise to learn that writer/director Christopher McQuarrie did originally plan to have a post-credit scene.
"I came to Tom and I said, 'Look, normally I would want you to see the whole movie before I showed this to you, but we're about to shoot this coda in a couple of days and just look at this bit'," McQuarrie told USA Today.

"He said, 'You know what, you can cancel Saturday's work because this is the end of the movie. This is it.'"
McQuarrie didn't reveal what that original plan for a Final Reckoning credit scene was, but it's probably a good thing they didn't go ahead with it.
The Final Reckoning has been talked about as the potential last Mission: Impossible movie of the series. If this truly is the end, the lack of a credit scene for The Final Reckoning is a smart move.
Until Dead Reckoning, each Mission: Impossible movie has been self-contained, protecting them from multiple loose ends or backing them into a story corner for the next movie, so there was no real reason to change it here.
There's no cliffhanger to be found in The Final Reckoning and like the majority of the movies, it wraps up all of its story by the end and feels like a potential culmination of the entire series.
You might have wanted a credit scene to confirm one way or the other that this is actually the end, but even Tom Cruise doesn't want to say whether this is the final Mission: Impossible movie.
"I'd rather just people see it and enjoy, and we've had an amazing time doing it and it’s been a lot of fun and I just want you all to enjoy it," he said at the Cannes press conference for the movie.
"Enjoy this and know everything is the culmination has come to this moment right now."
Just because there isn't a credit scene, that's not confirmation that this is the end of the series and it will likely depend on The Final Reckoning's box-office performance.
Either way, you won't feel short-changed after witnessing The Final Reckoning's spectacular climactic set piece — even without something extra in the credits.
