Jason Statham's new action movie A Working Man has been compared to Reacher in rave first reactions.

Directed by The Beekeeper's David Ayer, A Working Man stars Statham as Levon Cade, who left behind a decorated military career in the black ops to live a simple life of working construction.

However, when human traffickers kidnap his boss's daughter, his search to bring her home uncovers a world of corruption far greater than he ever could have imagined.

Ahead of its release in cinemas on March 28, those lucky few to have already seen A Working Man have taken to social to share their first reactions, with one critic even comparing the film to Prime Video's hit action series Reacher.

"If you’re hoping that A Working Man is The Beekeeper, Too, you’d better wait for that film’s sequel," said Bill Bria. "But if you want some Reacher-style brawlin’ with a dash of Rambo spice and Hard Target seasoning, Statham & Ayer deliver. This duo’s electric; hope they make something every year!"

"A Working Man is what we go to the movies for: Gripping vengeance-fuelled beat-downs, a flinty anti-hero & a lil’ sincerity," said Courtney Howard. "A chiselled, no mercy brawler & rollicking, crowd-pleasing great time seeing Jason Statham kick ass. We need 1 of these collabs every year."

Next Best Picture's Matt Neglia said A Working Man is his "favourite Jason Statham-led action film in quite some time", adding that it's "leaps and bounds better" than the actor's last collaboration with Ayer, The Beekeeper.

He also said that the film "delivers relentless entertainment" and described Statham's performance as "fierce as it is grounded".

Hunter Bolding described the film as "pure action excellence", while Dancin' Dan in Movieland said A Working Man "delivers the goods" - even if it's "not as much over-the-top fun as The Beekeeper".

"But this throwback to the '80s Action Star Vehicle works a treat, even if it does get bogged down by an unnecessarily complex plot," he added.

A Working Man is released in cinemas on March 28.
