Captain America: Brave New World defied poor reviews to gross nearly $200 million worldwide on its opening weekend.

The new movie marks the penultimate outing of Phase 5 of the MCU on the movies side, before we head into the final phase of The Multiverse Saga which culminates with two Avengers movies.

Given that we're so close to the big finale now, we wouldn't blame you if you expected the new Captain America movie to tease the future in a credit scene or two as has become common in the MCU.

So if you're heading to see Captain America: Brave New World, we've got the definitive guide to how many credit scenes you can expect to see and what they mean for the MCU's future.

Be warned, spoilers are ahead, but we'll flag before we delve into them.

How many credit scenes does Captain America: Brave New World have?

We can confirm that Captain America: Brave New World has only one credit scene to stick around for.

What to Read Next

However, like Deadpool & Wolverine last year, the credit scene comes at the very end of the credits so you'll have to stay to the very end to watch it.

There's no mid-credit scene so you'll have time to dash out to the toilet if you need, but the new movie is one of the MCU's shortest at around two hours long, so you might not even need to.

If you missed the post-credit scene or just want to know what it's about, read on for all the spoilers from Captain America: Brave New World's end credit scene.

Captain America: Brave New World post-credit scene explained

In the post-credit scene of Captain America: Brave New World, Sam Wilson goes to visit Samuel Sterns in The Raft.

Sterns succeeded in turning Thaddeus Ross in the Red Hulk, leading to him resigning from his office and being locked up in The Raft too. However, Wilson is keen to tell Sterns that the Red Hulk didn't kill him like Sterns predicted.

Before he can gloat too much though, Sterns has a warning about the future and the threat that's about to come:

"It's coming, I've seen it in the probabilities, seen it plain as day. All you heroes protecting this world, do you think you're the only ones? Do you think this is the only world? We'll see what happens when you have to protect this place from the others."

Marvel fans will know this is a not-so-subtle nod to Incursions, which we've heard before in the MCU in Loki, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.

An Incursion is when two realities' Earths collide which results in both of their destructions. However, if one Earth destroys the other, then that planet could stop the Incursion.

It forms the basis of the much-celebrated Secret Wars storyline of the comics, and this post-credit scene suggests that Avengers: Secret Wars, which is the final movie of The Multiverse Saga, will adapt this particular take on the story.

However, as ever with the MCU, we can expect it to make changes with its adaptation unless it introduces the Beyonders – who are responsible for the Incursions in the comics – in an upcoming movie.

Captain America: Brave New World is out now in cinemas.
