Sherlock Holmes 3 has a received positive update, with Jude Law revealing that the film has a new script.
The franchise kicked off in 2009 with Sherlock Holmes, starring Robert Downey Jr as the famous detective and Law as Dr Watson. This was followed by a 2011 sequel, titled Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.
In 2018, Warner Bros confirmed that the pair would be back for a third instalment, but progress has been slow following years of delays.

However, Law has now provided an encouraging update, revealing that there's a "new iteration of the script" and a "great will" to make the film.
"There’s a great will to make it. And a great will amongst us all to get it right to do it, to find the time, to find the right team," he told The Playlist.

The actor continued: "The one great thing I took from both of those films is my friendship with Robert and his wife Susan, they mean an awful lot to me. The hope is we’re still going to do it.
"I think there’s a new iteration of the script I haven’t yet read. And then there’s a case of 'How expensive is it? And can we get it made?'"

Last year, producer Susan Downey also gave an optimistic update on the project, confirming that it's a "priority" for her husband.
"Here's what I can tell you," she began. "Prior to this, we had lunch together with Robert... It was a very specific topic of conversation, so yes. It is in the hopper. We're gonna do it when it's right with the right people, but it is a priority for the company and a priority for Robert."
The third movie had originally been scheduled for release on December 25, 2020, before being moved to December 22, 2021 and then subsequently taken off of the release calendar entirely. In 2022, director Dexter Fletcher revealed that the Covid-19 pandemic had been responsible for the setbacks.
Sherlock Holmes 3 does not currently have a release date.
