Wicked star Cynthia Erivo has landed a huge new deal with Universal Pictures.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, Erivo and her production company, Edith's Daughter, have signed a first-look deal with the studio. Though no specific projects have been detailed yet, the move could be a big step in the star's career.
"Having spent the last 3 years collaborating with Donna Langley, Peter Cramer and the team at Universal on Wicked, I've experienced first-hand the love and fearlessness with which they tell stories and uplift storytellers," said Erivo in a statement.

The decision to split the musical into two films was recently explained by director Jon M Chu, who said: "The alternative was not possible, to be honest. We tried to make it into one movie, and you had to rip out songs and it became not Wicked.
"We questioned ourselves at every turn. We did not make decisions lightly. We actually could make decisions and go backwards. We tried all versions [of songs], always... I think the audience will stick with us on that when you see the movie."
Wicked is in cinemas now.
