Star Wars will be getting a brand new trilogy from X-Men director and producer Simon Kinberg.
According to Deadline, Kinberg will write and produce three films taking place in the vast Star Wars universe. Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy is on board to produce the trilogy.
Lucasfilm and Disney have declined to comment on these upcoming projects.
It is not yet certain, at this early stage, where these three films will fit in the Star Wars universe, as insiders hit back at initial speculation the trilogy would serve as Episodes 10-12 of the Skywalker Saga.
The publication is reporting that the trilogy could usher in a whole new era of the Star Wars cinematic universe, alongside projects in development from filmmakers Taika Waititi, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Dave Filoni, and James Mangold.

Additionally, Jon Favreau is working on a Mandalorian & Grogu spin-off of the Disney+ streaming show, which will star Pedro Pascal and Sigourney Weaver.
Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's project is expected to be a solo adventure for Daisy Ridley's Rey from Episodes 7-9. Ridley recently hinted that Rey's movie is "not what [she] expected" from Star Wars.
"I'm very excited. The story is really cool. I'm waiting to read a script because, obviously, I don't have any other updates," she recently told Collider.

New Star Wars trilogy writer-producer Simon Kinberg was previously a producer on the X-Men franchise before Disney and Fox's merger, in addition to writing and directing X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
Kinberg received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture for producing The Martian and has previous Star Wars experience from writing and producing the animated series Star Wars Rebels. He consulted on Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story as well.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the entire Skywalker Saga are streaming on Disney+ and also available to buy on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K.
