Britney Spears is getting her own biopic movie, as Universal has acquired the rights to her memoir The Woman in Me.

The 'I Wanna Go' singer announced the news herself, writing on social media: "Excited to share with my fans that I've been working on a secret project with #MarcPlatt. He's always made my favorite movies … stay tuned."

Variety has further reported that Wicked director Jon M Chu has signed on to develop the project, alongside La La Land and Dear Evan Hansen producer Marc Platt.

Following the huge success of The Woman in Me book, which was released in October last year and featured Michelle Williams narrating the audiobook version, there was reportedly a huge bidding war for the film rights.

The book covers her early life and career beginnings as part of The Mickey Mouse Club, her meteoric rise to becoming the world's biggest pop star, her 2007 struggles, and the conservatorship she was under for over a decade, after which she publicly revealed the extent of its impact upon her.

There are also plenty of interesting bits of trivia in the book, such as Spears coming very close to being the female lead in The Notebook, which would have served as a big reunion for her.

"The Notebook casting came down to me and Rachel McAdams, and even though it would have been fun to reconnect with Ryan Gosling after our time on the Mickey Mouse Club, I'm glad I didn't do it," she wrote.

"If I had, instead of working on my album In the Zone I'd have been acting like a 1940s heiress day and night."

Wicked: Part One is set for release on November 22, with the second part due for release in November 2025.
