Twisters lands in cinemas next week, and we now have the first reactions for the sequel to the '90s classic.
Directed by Minari's Lee Isaac Chung, the standalone sequel sees Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell play rival storm chasers who find themselves on a collision course with multiple storm systems, leading to the fight of their lives.
Following its European premiere tonight (July 8) in London's Leicester Square, those lucky few to have already seen Twisters have taken to Twitter to share their first reactions.
So does Twisters live up to the '90s classic Twister?
Digital Spy's Ian Sandwell was impressed with the long-awaited sequel: "The story leaves something to be desired, but #Twisters absolutely delivers where it matters with huge-scale thrilling set pieces. Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell are an engaging lead duo, but it's Brandon Perea who steals every scene he's in."
Lou Thomas, of the BFI, also gave Twisters a positive assessment, writing on Twitter / X: "Saw Twisters last week, didn't wanna shout about it (OK the embargo was still in force). Enjoyed it, especially Glen Powell's fun turn as a cowboy scientist."

Great fun, led by charming duo Edgar-Jones and Powell, it’s also unafraid to take risks," GamesRadar+'s Emily Murray wrote. "Glad I watched the original before as there’s neat callbacks – I feel this is a better film though!"
Other early reactions were overwhelmingly positive as well, with Twisters being praised as "beautifully shot [and] heartfelt" as well as "thrilling and exciting in all the best ways".
Twisters also stars Anthony Ramos, Brandon Perea, Maura Tierney, Sasha Lane, David Corenswet, Daryl McCormack, Kiernan Shipka and Nik Dodani.
The Revenant writer Mark L Smith wrote the script from a story idea by Joseph Kosinski, who directed Top Gun: Maverick and the upcoming F1.
Ahead of its release, Twisters has been confirmed to be longer than Twister, clocking in at 122 minutes, compared to the original's 108 minutes.
Despite the title, don't expect Twisters to be that connected to the original movie either.
"It's a separate story. It's not a continuation of the original. But it's just a real wild ride with some good, fun characters," Smith explained last year.
"Hopefully, we can tap into what the original had because that thing is just iconic. But it's so cool to have a director like Isaac taking on something like this. It's just so out of his norm."
Twisters is released in UK cinemas on July 17 and in US cinemas on July 19.
