Star Wars' Liam Neeson has landed the lead role in an upcoming Naked Gun reboot.
The original Naked Gun trilogy from the '80s starred Leslie Nielsen as Franklin 'Frank' Drebin, a good-hearted but inept detective at the centre of a police procedural parody.
Although plot details are being kept under wraps for the time being, Neeson is in talks to play Frank Drebin's son (via Deadline).

Akiva Schaffer is set to direct the movie from a script penned by Chip ‘n Dale writers Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, while Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins will produce the project though their company Fuzzy Door.
Nielsen first played Frank in the short-lived TV series Police Squad!, before the character made his way to the big screen in the 1988 movie The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!.

Earlier this year, Neeson reprised his Star Wars role as Master Qui-Gon Jinn in Disney+'s Obi-Wan Kenobi .
Speaking about why he chose to return to the role, the actor said: "I certainly didn't want anyone else playing Qui-Gon Jinn, and I wanted to show my respect for George [Lucas] and that mythical world that he created.
"Plus, Ewan [McGregor] is a pal, and I loved working with him during The Phantom Menace 25 years ago."
Obi-Wan Kenobi is streaming on Disney+. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the entire Skywalker Saga are available on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K now, as well as on Disney+.
