Guardians of the Galaxy star Will Poulter has opened up about his new anti-bullying campaign.

While appearing on BBC’s The One Show, the actor talked about Anti Bullying Pro – the campaign he’s involved with in association with the Diana Award – and why he’s advocating for it, “I’ve kind of been involved with them since 2010,” he said.

“October 3rd is the Anti Bullying Assembly. It’s the third of its kind… and kids are going back to school, so it’s kind of about setting the tone around anti bullying and putting people at ease around the subject matter,” he explained.

He also explained why he got involved with the campaign.

“The bullying that we experience as young people, whether at school or while we’re young has a longstanding psychological impact… and that’s kind of heartbreaking.

“So, that kind of speaks to me to kind of take bullying seriously and to kind of shape school culture so that schools will become a happier and safer place for them,” he said.

The show also surprised the actor with a video from his old maths teacher, which left him visibly emotional.

“I just want you to know how unbelievably proud I was of you then and continue to be today. You are a true inspiration and you will always have my ample support,” she said in the video, leaving Poulter in tears.

Poulter is set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Guardians of the Galaxy 3 as the villain Adam Warlock.

And in an interview with The Playlist, the actor revealed back in May that he didn’t even know what he was auditioning for: "I didn't know what character, initially, I was auditioning for. I kind of knew sort of closer to the time [of casting] who I was reading for.

"I'm just a huge fan of the tone and the creativity and James Gunn's work and so many of the actors, you know, that I now get to call colleagues, which I'm very grateful for. So yeah, to have any kind of part in that world is very, very cool for me,” he added.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1 and Vol 2 are available now. The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is coming to Disney+ later this year, and then Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 arrives on May 5, 2023.
