It's been hours since the news of Batgirl's cancellation broke, and DC fans are already fearing for the fates of other unreleased titles – namely, Blue Beetle and Black Canary.

Yesterday (August 2), in a shock move, Warner Bros confirmed that it would no longer be moving ahead with the live-action Batgirl movie starring Leslie Grace as the lead.

Although filming on Batgirl wrapped back in April, Warner Bros made the decision to pull the spin-off movie from its roster, insisting that it was "not a reflection" on Grace's performance.

Instead, "the decision to not release Batgirl reflects our leadership's strategic shift as it relates to the DC universe and HBO Max," a spokesperson explained.

In a statement, they added: "Leslie Grace is an incredibly talented actor and this decision is not a reflection of her performance."

Unsurprisingly, it didn't take long for fans of the DCEU to worry about what else may rest on the chopping block, with speculation mounting that Xolo Maridueña's debut as Blue Beetle and Jurnee Smollett's return as Black Canary are also at risk.

You can take a look at some of the (sweary) fan concerns below.

Batgirl, which was headed for an HBO Max release, followed Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon, the masked vigilante and member of Batman's inner circle protecting Gotham City.

Batgirl's directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah recently hinted that the film would have been an origin story for the hero, with a fairly DC-friendly gritty tone.

Justice League's JK Simmons had been set to return as Barbara's father, Gotham police commissioner Jim Gordon, while Michael Keaton would have reprised his iconic role as Batman.

El Arbi and Fallah had not long teased Keaton's significant involvement in the film, promising fans that they could expect to see the "OG Batman" back in action once more.
