Jurassic World: Dominion star DeWanda Wise is the latest name to join Chris Pine's Poolman.

She joins Danny DeVito, Annette Bening and Jennifer Jason Leigh in the film, which is written by Pine and serves as his directorial debut.

According to Deadline, Wise has been cast in the mystery-comedy about a pool cleaner – played by Pine – who discovers "the greatest water heist in LA history since Chinatown" and makes an uneasy alliance with a femme fatale to protect his city.

Chinatown, Roman Polanski's 1974 melodrama starring Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway, was inspired by disputes over water rights in California.

Dominion saw Laura Dern and Sam Neill reprise their iconic roles and has been a box office hit, but received very mixed reactions, with Digital Spy writing, “It delivers the spectacle you expect, but #JurassicWorldDominion feels underwhelming for a finale.”

Elsewhere, We Live Entertainment’s Scott Menzel said on Twitter, “It brings me no joy to report that [the film] is a MASSIVE disappointment.”

It looks like the Jurassic series is at an end, for now at least, but Trevorrow told Entertainment Weekly that the forthcoming season of Netflix's children's cartoon Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous will make connections with Dominion, which may keep the franchise alive.

Jurassic World: Dominion is now playing in US and UK cinemas.
