Two Star Wars and Star Trek stars have united for a new thriller.
The Star Wars sequel trilogy's Daisy Ridley has paired with Star Trek: Discovery's Shazad Latif for Magpie, a film about a couple who have their world rocked when their daughter is cast opposite a controversial actor in a new project.
As reported by Deadline, the plot comes from an idea that Ridley herself had and she serves as a producer alongside Tom Bateman, who is penning the script. Sam Yates is making the transition from theatre to film with this project, which will be his screen directorial debut.

Ridley, Bateman and fellow producer Kate Solomon said in a statement: "Our aim with Magpie is to make a Hitchcockian thriller that will take audiences on a genuine ride – fast paced and beautiful to look at with a tension that will build from the start and keep everyone guessing to the very end."
Yates added: "I immediately connected with Tom Bateman’s ingenious, intoxicating script. I’m excited to take audiences on a wild, surprising thrill ride with our stellar cast led by the incomparable Daisy Ridley."

Meanwhile, Ridley has another project in the works: a movie adaptation of the novel Young Woman and the Sea for Disney+, which recently signed up former Doctor Who lead Christopher Eccleston and Peaky Blinders' Stephen Graham to its cast.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the entire Skywalker Saga are available on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K now, as well as on Disney+.
