The runtime for Uncharted, the new action-adventure starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, has been announced ahead of its release in UK cinemas.

The runtime was confirmed by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), which is responsible for the ratings of movies to help parents and children choose appropriate ones to watch.

According to the BBFC, Holland's latest film will officially be running for 116 minutes when it hits cinemas on Friday (February 11).

The feature-length video game adaptation was also given a 12A rating for moderate violence.

Uncharted is based on the PlayStation game series that follows legendary treasure hunter Nathan Drake. But the adaptation serves as an origin story of sorts.

The film sees young Nathan – played by Holland - being recruited by fortune hunter Victor 'Sully' Sullivan (Wahlberg) to recover a fortune that was lost at sea 500 years ago by the House of Moncada.

It's directed by Venom and Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer and will also feature Sophia Taylor Ali as Chloe, Tati Gabrielle as Braddock and Antonio Banderas as Moncada.

Holland has previously described the film as "if Indiana Jones and James Bond had had a baby".

"I think what Uncharted offers that most video games films don't is that it's an origin story to the games," he said on Vanity Fair's Little Gold Men podcast before filming the feature.

"So if you played the games, you haven't seen what's going to happen in the film. And if you haven't played the games, you're going to enjoy the film because it's information that everyone else is getting at the same time."

Uncharted will be released on February 11 in UK cinemas, and February 18 in the US.
