Guardians of the Galaxy vol 3 could be a serious tearjerker, if Karen Gillan's reaction to the script is anything to go off.
Gillan, who's played mechanical menace Nebula in the MCU since 2014, spoke to Collider recently about writer/director James Gunn's work on the third Guardians flick, which is currently in the pre-production stage.

"I read that script with Pom Klementieff, who plays Mantis," she revealed. "We read it together and we both cried and laughed, but there was full tears. It's incredible, I think it's James' strongest work yet with the Guardians and it's just brilliant.
"It's brilliant and it's emotional and it's funny and it's all of those things that you want."
Let's hope these words don't translate into major deaths...

Elsewhere, the Scottish actress previously waxed lyrical about the filmmaker, who returns later this month with The Suicide Squad.
"I think a lot of the reason that Nebula is the way she is is because of James Gunn. He's the sort of creator of her and I think he really connected with the character personally.
"I remember when we would do scenes between me and Gamora, he'd be like crying in the rehearsals and stuff. He's so invested," Gillan added.
Guardians of the Galaxy vol 1 and vol 2 are available now, whilst vol 3 is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on May 5, 2023.
